Confusing Affection for Technology

I uncharacteristically had a gentleman suitor this weekend, and we went on a series of dates around the greater Seattle area.  I am very bad (almost proudly so) at being romantic.  Witness for yourself by this series of events:

  • We spent Sunday going all over town by bus, so I kept using my BlackJack phone to look up the bus timetables on the internet throughout the day.
  • At one point we were sitting on a bench waiting for a bus that wasn't due for another 10 minutes. I had just put my phone in my pocket.
  • Two seconds later the gentleman suitor said in a critical tone, "I'm not usually much of a PDA fan, but..." and then he snuck a kiss from me.
  • I looked at him incredulously and said, "So you just insulted me for having a fancy phone, and then you kiss me?  WTF?"
  • We stared at each other confusedly.
  • We realized that by PDA he meant "Public Display of Affection" when I thought he meant "Personal Digital Assistant."
  • We laughed.
The end.
